Vaikunth Balvikas

The Vaikunth Balvikas was started soon after Vaikunth Hindu Jain Temple started its activities in the year 2003. Lata Patel with the help of local volunteers initiated Balvikas which strives to introduce the young Indians to the rich traditions of the mother India, by imparting cultural values, instilling moral discipline, and educating Hindu religion and teaching respect for other religions.

In her own words, “Every child has that spark of divinity within. Balivikas is a forum where Hindu children growing up in the US learn of their cultural roots, learn Hindu values in an enjoyable manner, and play Indian games. They will also develop a sense of Sewa (a service to mankind).”

Vaikunth Balvikas classes take place on every Saturday between 6.30PM -8.00 PM. for the kids aging between 5 – 15 years. The schedule helps parents to attend Hanuman Chalisa recital in the Temple while their kids are in the Balvikas in the auditorium of the temple. They learn various subjects like Yoga, shloka, Stories, Arts and Crafts and community service. Vaikunth Balvikas kids also participate in various cultural events organized in the temple as well as in the nearby areas. They have presented skits and dances based on the stories of Hindu scriptures. Annual Summer Picnic is another learning experience for the Balvikas students.

Vaikuth Balvikas sincerely appreciates support from the parents of Balvikas students. Any such program cannot be successful without community support. We look forward to the same support from the temple management and parents in future also. Our children are our future, Lets work together.
